Great essay. I was in a very similar position last year. Thought I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing and then, boom, chaos knocks and forces himself through the door. If you have read "The Snowball" or any well written biography of someone you admire, you'll see that getting back up from a failure is a feature, not a bug, of successful people. This too shall pass.

Hey man. Long time follower, first time messager. Thanks for sharing your journey, it was great to read about. Been through a similar thing recently so it resonated. Your decision to focus on all of the opportunities ahead is 100% the correct one. While it feels like a door that you really cared about (investing) has closed, and that sucks, 10000000 other doors have opened for you. Like Liberty said, imagine what you can do once you find something you really enjoy.

My old boss used to say "if you are not being energized by the job that you are doing, you are just running on batteries, and when the battery is empty there is nothing left." He also used to say "there will always be jobs for smart people.". Hope that helps & hope you start winning again soon.

Amen, brother. You'll do fine, because you have great introspection, are obviously smart, can work hard even at stuff you don't like that much, so imagine how much better you'll be and how much more you'll learn when you find something you truly like and that makes you happy. Cheers! 💚 🥃
